Many of you know that my plan after graduation is to return to Ohio and pursue a career as a manicurist. For those of you who didn't know---suprise! It probably seems strange to some people that after four years of college I'm going to do something as "simple" as go to cosmotology school. After all, that's what those girls in high school did who didn't try hard enough to get into college and who were more worried about boys and partying than being intelligent human being. Ok, I realize that is a total stereotype and wasn't always the case...but you know what I mean. Well, here's my reasons for making this decision:
1. It would be a way that I could still use my artistic side, while actually making money and avoiding all of those horrid "starving artist" comments
3. If I do end up meeting Mr. Right one day, get married, and have kids it will be easy to either A.) work out of my home or B.) quit the biz and be a stay-at-home mom
4. I LOVE talking to people, but especially listening to them. Being an artist usually means you're working in your studio all by your lonesome. Which is great sometimes, but not all the time. I find people absolutely fascinating, and would love to hear from the women who come to get their nails done. Which leads me to....
5. I would eventually have consistent clientele, who may have connections that lead to opportunities with my illustrations, wine boxes, etc.
6. No matter where I end up living, there are always nail salons and no matter what happens in the economy there are always those certain women who insist on having their nails done.
So there you have. I think those are six pretty solid reasons. Anyway, all of this to say......while thinking about getting certified to do nails, I've also recently been seriously contemplating getting certified to do makeup. I recently found a channel on Youtube called Pixiwoo (they've also recently launched a website). It was created by two sisters in England who are make-up artists, and they post makeup tutorials for every kind of makeup style you can possibly think of. I've been fascinated watching them, and have even tried a few of their tricks myself. Check out my results:
I think I look like my Mom in this picture :)
I know that some of this may seem pretty superficial and silly, but the fact is that most women are much more confident when they are wearing makeup, and I would love to be able to help them achieve that.
So, what do you guys think?
