Today I had my final critique for painting. Whew, what a relief! As many of you know, my professor and I have very different views about what makes "good art" and what style of painting is acceptable. However, the critique went suprisingly well, and it was a load off my shoulders--not only because of the positive feedback that I received from both my professor and my peers, but because it means the class is finally over. One less thing to worry about and spend my time on. It feels good to wrap things up, and I'm really pleased with how everything came together and turned out.
Here are the paintings I completed. Each one is 18x24 inches. I did another painting as well, but was really displeased with how it came out so I chose not to include it in my final portfolio.
The above paintings are illustrations for Emma by Jane Austen.
These two paintings are illustrations for Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
How wonderfully successful these paintings are. I like them. Great job standing your ground and pursuing your desire.
ReplyDeleteI like them! I think they turned out well. I think you were successful in being more "modern." As much as I think these are cool though, I enjoy your style much, much more.
