Discovering New Oceans: Vice Verses

Today was just a down-right wonderful day. Why, you ask? A multitude of reasons!!

1. It's the first day of Fall. Fall is my favorite season. Automatic bonus points.
2. Today was not only the first day of fall, but when I opened the door to walk to my first class I was greeted by SUNSHINE, BLUE SKIES, and perfect weather. Double bonus points.
3. I got the first positive feedback from my painting professor in a LOOONNNNNGGG time. WOOT WOOT! Painting just felt good today. I can't really explain it. Usually when I go into painting I feel a huge burden- to please myself and to please everyone around me. Today I just simply picked up my paintbrush and got down to business. Maybe it helped that I was listening to Jon Foreman's EPs while I worked, which always puts me in a good mood. Did I mention that his EPs are themed to go with the seasons? Anyone see a recurring theme here? Hahahaha
4. On my way back from the studio I decided on a whim to stop by the post office. Yesterday I received a postcard from my Mom (thanks Mom!), so I wasn't expecting there to be anything today. How VERY wrong I was!! I put the key in the slot, turned it to the left, opened the little metal door, and what should greet me but a little peach-colored slip of paper. I had a package!! But not just your average, ordinary, everyday-kind-of-package. I had received the NEW SWITCHFOOT CD!!! Not only did the package contain this long-awaited item, but also a brand-spankin-new t-shirt with the album art on it! YESSS!!

The rest of today has been spent listening to said CD, and I honestly can't believe how quickly I've fallen in love with it. Usually when they release a new CD it takes me awhile to warm up to it. I have such high expectations of them as a band, and I get so attached to all of their past music that I'm usually let down just a tad. Not this time though! Even during my first listen to the cd, after every song that would play I would think to myself, "wow, that was really good!" Maybe I'm just still on Cloud 9 from everything else that has gone right today, or maybe the music/lyrics are just that good. Who knows....I'll keep you all posted.
